A mandatory interim assessment should take place between two and three months after the start of your research project or business internship. During this interim assessment you will receive feedback from your supervisor(s) on your work, progress and performance. In case of a research project at the UU or UMCU you will receive feedback from your examiner, preferably together with the daily supervisor. In case of a (research) project outside the UU/UMCU, the interim assessment is between you and your supervisor(s) host institute. Please note that this interim assessment is different from regular work discussions. You are encouraged to schedule more than one assesment moment with your supervisor, since it can benefit your collaboration and the progress of your project.
Your supervisor can use different rubrics to indicate for which criteria you are on the right track and which parts can be improved. The rubric about research skills will most likely be used, since the rubrics about presentation and report might not be relevant at this stage.
For Business Internships (SBM students) the rubrics can be found here. For projects in the general reserach profile for BINN students, the rucrics can be found here
Since the interim assessment is a mandatory part of your project, you have to submit a report of this meeting. There are two options:
- If your supervisor used the rubrics to give you feedback, submit a pdf of the highlighted rubric signed by your supervisor.
- If no rubrics were used, write a short report (½ A4) using either the Interim assessment form - inside (project at the UU/UMCU) or the Interim assessment form - outside (projects outside the UU/UMCU).
Send the rubric or report, signed by your supervisor, to the Master's administration via email in order to get the final grade of your research project registered. Students from CSDB, BINN and SBM can submit their interim assessment in Osiris Zaak.
In case of a research project at the UU or UMCU, your examiner signs the rubric or report. In case of a (research) project outside the UU/UMCU, your supervisor host institute signs the rubric or report. Inform your Utrecht examiner about the outcome of the meeting (e.g. by sending him/her the rubric or report) as well.
